How to Prepare for a Swim Spa Delivery
Once you have decided what swim spa to buy you need to start preparing for your delivery date. In order for your swim spa to be safely installed, there are some essential steps which must be followed. In the article below, we will outline what factors you need to consider for your installation as well as how to prepare for your swim spa delivery.
Above Ground or In-Ground?
Swim spas can be installed in-ground or above ground, which is the more popular option due to the lower cost. An above ground swim spa only requires a 6” thick, level concrete pad to support its weight, whereas, with an in-ground install, you will need to hire a contractor and have an area excavated by their team.
If you have chosen an above ground install, you need to make sure that you have the proper electrical hookups for the swim spa to run. You may need to hire an electrician to add the necessary wiring to reach your swim spa location.
Another consideration is making sure you have a nearby water supply and a garden hose that can reach your swim spa to fill it.
Type of Delivery
You will need to have a discussion with your swim spa dealer about the layout of your yard and how much space you have around the exterior of your home to delivery your swim spa.
Make sure that you take proper measurements so that you are 100% sure that there is enough room to move the swim spa from the delivery truck into its final location. You need to also keep in mind that the dimensions will be larger than the swim spa itself - there will be package and delivery personnel carrying the spa, which requires more space.
If it is determined that you have adequate space, simple truck delivery and use of a forklift will work. If you are going to need the swim spa lifted over your home, you will require a crane on your delivery day.
Pre-Delivery Inspection
Before the delivery team arrives, do an inspection around your home. You want to make sure that there is nothing that will obstruct the delivery path, such as a clothesline, gate, exterior lamps or an object that may easily be tripped over.
Delivery Day
Before loading onto the tuck, your swim spa will be quality tested and cleaned. It will be covered in a protective wrap or a tarp, loaded onto a flatbed truck and secured. Once the delivery team arrives at your home, they will unload and carry the swim spa, placing on the concrete pad in your yard.
It is highly recommended to have an electrician on-site for our delivery to safely connect the wiring. Your delivery team will give you an overview of how to use the swim spa before they leave. After that, all you need to do is fill with water and enjoy!
